Trashion Fashion Barbies and Bags: Reclaimed and Reinvented Gallery Exhibit and Auction

Submissions are open through March 13, 2026 ($25 for one entry, $40 for two). All entries will be auctioned off to benefit the Center.

Returning this year is the silent auction, available to view from anywhere! But if you're in the Bay Area, it's worth a visit to see these works of art in person. Bid for the chance to take home a piece of Barbie Art or an Upcycled Bag... wearable art!

Saved from landfills where plastic dolls can take anywhere from 20 to 500 years to decompose, these once-forgotten Barbies and other 12-inch dolls are given a bold second life. Transformed by artists into imaginative works of recycled art, they come together in a vibrant gallery exhibition and silent auction that celebrates creativity, sustainability, and the joy of reinvention.

A new edition this year is the wearable art of bags! Barbie loves her fashion, and we prefer it upcycled! This show will include fanny packs, backpacks, clutches, handbags... whatever the designer may envision.

If interested in creating something for the show but don't have the space or need guidance and supplies, an all-ages open studio/workshop will be held on Sunday, February 15, at 1 PM. Space is limited, so participants must register in advance at SonomaCommunityCenter.org. The registration fee is in leau of the application fee.

Workshops and entries have a fee. The exhibit in Gallery 212 at Sonoma Community Center is free and open to the public. There is no cost to bid on the items in the exhibit unless you are the highest bidder.
