From States Away is an alt/punk/emo band from NYC. Our new full length record Sun In My Eyes is now streaming everywhere.Sockeye is a project spawned from the seemingly aimless yet intimidating era of a post-COVID world and for those unsure of their place moving forward in the 2020s. The New York-based band combines influences of pensive storytelling with alt-pop-inspired melodies to ponder heartbreak, regrettable decisions, and coming to terms with adulthood. Their first single Entre was released in May of 2023, a humorously dark song comparing an unhealthy relationship to cannibalism. The track introduced listeners to their patient narrative style, a throughline that would continue on the more somber Still Listening EP. Sockeye was founded by Hayden Carr-Loize in a very small bedroom in Midtown Manhattan.
