Join artist Linda M. Garca-Perez for a papel picado artmaking activity inspired by the painting "Una Tarde/One Summer Afternoon" by Carmen Lomas Garza, on view in the exhibition "Hyphen American: Intersections of Identity."
Papel picado is a form of traditional Mexican decorative paper that is cut into intricate designs offering a vibrant way to explore cultural storytelling. Participants of all ages are invited to create their own artwork using traditional materials, sketch in the galleries, and enjoy a refreshing snack in the Great Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
