Event Information

The Association of Ramaytush Ohlone and the Exploratorium welcome you to the fourth annual California Native Homeland Festival.

Food, culture, and knowledge are deeply connected. Across California, Native communities sustain rich food traditions that reflect relationships with land, water, seasons, and care for future generations. As climate change impacts our state, artists and culture bearers see firsthand how the landscape, and these practices, are changing.

This year, join us by the San Francisco Bay to celebrate food as a living practice that connects culture, ecology, and community. Explore traditional methods of collecting and preparing food, meet renowned Native artists and culture bearers, and discover your own relationship with the earth and the food you eat.

Curated in partnership with Gregg Castro (t'rowt'raahl Salinan/rumsen and ramaytush Ohlone), cultural director for the Association of Ramaytush Ohlone, and Jennifer Bates (Northern Sierra Mewuk), cultural festival curator and basket weaver.

This festival is made possible by the generous support of the Humann Foundation.
