The Playground's 140 affiliated actors work on a 100-percent volunteer basis to perform and operate the theater. Home to 12 member and nine affiliated ensembles, as well as welcoming guest ensembles from across Chicago and around the world, the theater also offers children's programs, fundraising benefit shows, improv masters classes and customized comedy shows for corporations and other groups.

The Playground Theater is an artist led comedy theater. Our mission is to provide a home for comedians to grow as performers, writers, directors and producers. We are committed to entertaining audiences with successful shows that reflect our core values: fun, freedom, and opportunity.
