The Strokes are back with a fourth album and a top-billed tour date scheduled at the 2011 Coachella Valley Music Festival in Indio, California. The bandmates met in school as kids, and through years of hard work they were able to craft an indie rock sound that had record labels battling to sign them. In early 2000, the band recorded The Modern Age EP, which brought them several offers from major labels. Eventually, RCA Records won out and the band re-recorded the majority of the tracks for their debut LP, Is This It, in 2002. The album was certified Platinum and spawned three hit singles, including the edgy "Last Nite". Their album was also a critics darling and received Album of the Year recognition from Entertainment Weekly and Time Magazine. In support of the album, the Strokes concert schedule had dozens of internationally scheduled tour dates. The Strokes hit the studio in 2002, to record their follow-up sophomore set, Room on Fire. This album spawned the hit single, "Reptila," and debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
