"The Interior Horizon" features a collection of paintings that serve as Barry's response to the extraordinary reverence she experiences in the presence of the natural world. Moving beyond literal references found in traditional landscapes, Barry's work captures the visceral energy of movement, light, and scale. Her atmospheric planes of color and form explore the boundary where the physical environment meets the internal subconscious, inviting viewers to navigate a space where the horizon functions as both a physical limit and a psychological gateway.

Through a process rooted in spontaneity and gesture, Barry distills the essence of the land into intimate yet expansive compositions. By deconstructing traditional topography, the exhibition offers a window into a world where the landscape becomes a mirror for the mind's interior vistas.

A Significance of Place: The Homecoming For Barry
"The Interior Horizon" carries the weight of a homecoming. Born in New Bedford, just minutes from the Dartmouth Cultural Center, she grew up along the Massachusetts SouthCoast. It was here that the open sweep of the Atlantic, the shifting harbor light, and the vast, uninterrupted horizon first shaped her sense of scale and wonder.

Though Barry now lives and works between New York City and East Hampton, the coastline of her childhood remains the emotional bedrock of her practice. The qualities she pursues in paint - the magic of movement, the fleeting clarity of light, and the overwhelming vastness of nature - trace directly back to these local waters. To exhibit this body of work here, on the shores that first taught her how to see, returns the horizon to its source.
