Event Information
Broadway pros bring live theatre, song and dance to Whitefish PAC. The classics of Cole Porter, Gershwin and Irving Berlin - two nights only! July 1 and 2, 7 PM.From Tin Pan Alley to the supper clubs of mid-century America, the Great American Songbook is the music that shaped a nation - the timeless standards, torch songs, and jazz-inflected ballads written by the likes of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and George Gershwin that became the soundtrack of American life.
Now Alpine Theatre Project brings it fully to the stage with a dazzling production featuring Broadway professionals, singers, and dancers from New York and Los Angeles, alongside the local talent you love. Under the musical direction of Joshua Stephen Kartes - co-creator of the acclaimed Broadway Sings concert series and a Joseph Jefferson Award winner - this is a full evening of live theatre, song, and dance built around the greatest catalogue of popular music ever written.
Think sweeping romance, showstopping numbers, and the songs you didn't know you knew by heart - performed with the polish and passion they deserve. If you loved Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, you know what ATP does with great music. This is that, turned up.
The Great American Songbook features ten professional performers who travel to Whitefish each summer as part of ATP's Broadway Summer Camp, a three-week intensive where Broadway artists teach and mentor young performers from across the Flathead Valley. The pros' show is the crown jewel of that program - two performances only, bringing the full energy of a Broadway-caliber cast to Atkinson Hall at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.
This is the kind of evening that works for everyone. Bring a date, bring your parents, bring your teenagers. If you love classic standards, jazz, Broadway, or just a great night of live performance, this show is for you. It's an evening out that feels like an event - the kind of show where you leave humming something you haven't thought about in years.
Alpine Theatre Project is the Flathead Valley's only Actors' Equity theater, now in its 23rd season, bringing professional-caliber live theatre and Theatre Education to The Flathead Valley.
