Blending social realism, spirituality, and Afro-futurism, director Johanné Gómez Terrero crafts a visually striking meditation on identity, displacement, and survival while exposing the enduring legacy of colonial exploitation. As Makenya confronts family pressures and uncertain futures, the arrival of a mysterious theater troupe reveals haunting connections between past and present struggles.
