Event Information
A pop culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage in "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, and more through clever, tuneful songs is not only making a small-screen comeback, but it’s also lighting up stages everywhere - from school multi-purpose rooms to university and regional theatres all around the country.
"Schoolhouse Rock Live!" follows Tom, an anxious school teacher, who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as “Just a Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly,” and “Conjunction Junction.”
Schoolhouse Rock Live! was originally adapted and produced for the Stage by Theatre BAM, with the book by George Keating, Kyle Hall, Scott Ferguson; music and lyrics by Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, George Newall, Kathy Mandry, Lynn Aherns, and Tom Yohe; based on an idea by David McCall and a television series created by George Newall and Tom Yohe. Special thanks to Original Cast Members, Joseph Beal, Dina Joy Byrd, Shulie Cowen, Dori Goldman and Tom Mizer. "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" at the Carrollwood Cultural Center is directed by David O’ Hara and presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
