Event Information
By harnessing the strange, wave-like physics of the quantum realm, next-generation sensors are already redefining space exploration and off-world navigation. At the same time, quantum computers are opening a radical new frontier for human artistic expression.
Join us to experience quantum superposition and entanglement, translated into otherworldly soundscapes. Presented in partnership with Stochastic Labs and the University of Plymouth, quantum music pioneer Eduardo Reck Miranda will talk about the dawn of quantum computer music. He will also demonstrate music composed with quantum computers, brought to life with reactive visual art projections by creative technologist Tiange Wang and IDEO designer Jason Robinson.
Creatives
Eduardo Reck Miranda is a composer working at the crossroads of music, science, and new technologies. He has composed for world-renowned ensembles including BBC Radio 3, the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Singers, and the London Sinfonietta. As a professor at the University of Plymouth, he pioneers new approaches to composition using unconventional computers.
Jason Robinson is an industrial designer with over 40 years of experience across aerospace, medical, products, environments, and advertising. He looks for poetry in the spaces between physical objects and human experiences, using a build-centered approach to design and communicate intent. He is currently a senior design director at IDEO.
Tiange Wang is an award-winning multidisciplinary designer and creative technologist. Her work explores new interaction paradigms across AI, software, multimedia art, and games to make emerging technologies more engaging and humane. Currently a senior software design lead at IDEO, she leads cross-functional teams prototyping complex digital and physical AI products.
Acknowledgements
Eduardo Reck Miranda is sponsored by the University of Plymouth, UK. We'd like to thank I-Yang Huang, AI creative technologist, for his technical collaboration, from supporting software development to building the custom portable desktop that made it possible for the visual performance system to travel from Boston to San Francisco.
