Objects of Love: A Free Workshop with Vanessa Johnson will run 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Schweinfurth, 205 Genesee St., Auburn. Attendees are asked to bring an object that brings them joy. They will share their story, write it down on cloth, and then hand sew a gris gris or small pouch. Rooted in West and Central African spiritual traditions, gris gris are worn around the neck and serve as protective talismans.

This free workshop is for ages 7 to adult and beginning sewists are welcome. Registration is requested at https://www.schweinfurthartcenter.org/youth-classes.
