Venue Information

The museum was founded in 1965, and was originally located on River Street. Since 1996, it has been located in the historic William Scarbrough House (built 1819). Scarbrough was a principal owner of the steamship "Savannah," which was the first steam-powered vessel to cross the ocean. The museum's collection includes model ships and maritime artifacts from the 1700s & 1800s. Our gardens take up a whole city block of the Historic District and are free of charge each day from 10-5, with free WiFi. Museum entry is less than $10.

The largest gardens in Historic Savannah are the setting for a museum celebrating the maritime history of Savannah, Georgia. Garden entry is free, and the gardens are available for corporate and wedding rentals.
