Started in 1984, the Monteverdi Music School has its home at 46 Barre Street in a historic three-story building converted from a former convent, just a block from downtown Montpelier and an easy walk from the public schools.

Our faculty has long included many of Central Vermont’s finest musicians and educators, all active performers in a variety of concert and stage settings. Our students benefit from exposure to true professionals devoted to sharing their own musical passions, experience, and hard work.

As a community music school, Monteverdi seeks to provide a home not only for programs designed to bring the community together around music—from Kindermusik and fiddle camps to choral ensembles masterclass programs—but also for a network of teachers, musical organizations, and local musicians at all stages of expertise.
