Cuba Libre Bar began in 1994 as just a small bar in Havana-Jax Cafe. It was immediately embraced by Jacksonville and it's people as it was the first experience the city had with the authentic taste and rhythms of Cuban culture. The spirit and passion of the Latin nightlife gained a loyal following and such popularity that Cuba Libre Bar transformed into Jacksonville's first upscale Latin club, and became an attraction of its own, located next to its sister restaurant, Havana Jax Cafe, on August 10, 2003.

The owner, Silvia Pulido, says the decision on giving Cuba Libre Bar it's own space was inspired by her four children, who were all raised in Jacksonville, Florida. After high school, three of the children left the United States to pursue the medical profession in Costa Rica, where they enjoyed a unique Latin nightlife.
