In 1997 small group of local professionals, who dubbed themselves “At The Tabernacle,” found a need for a venue with the spirit of ‘The Fillmore East’ and ‘The Bottom Line.’ They opened that spring with Kenny Rankin, in the historic 1885 edifice, an all wood octagon, with a central cupola 45' above the audience, located in the heart of Mt. Tabor, a small community of Victorian-era gingerbread cottages in central north New Jersey. Since then, ‘At The Tabernacle’ has been proud to host such outstanding talent as: Donovan, Hot Tuna, John Sebastian, Arlo Guthrie, Roger McGuinn, Richie Havens, Richard Thompson, Shawn Colvin and many, many others. “This building plays like a vintage guitar,” said John Sebastian, one evening as he shared the bill with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ‘Hot Tuna’.
