The Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater Hollywood, formerly known as the Henry Fonda Theater, and known for short as, the Music Box at the Fonda', first opened on October 20, 1926 as the Carter DeHaven Music Box. The Music Box at Fonda Hollywood was originally a revue venue and speakeasy, but was later converted into a movie theater. Finally in the mid-1980s, the Music Box at Fonda Hollywood took on its current operation as a Los Angeles music club. Though the venue has been through many name changes, and as many managers, the Music Box at the Fonda Hollywood's reputation as one of Los Angeles’ favorite venues continues to be strong.
The Music Box at Henry Fonda Theater features about 1,000 seats and a standing-room only floor space. The open terrace space above the lobby that was once used as a speakeasy has now become the club’s popular lounge, The Blue Palms.
Prior to its current operations, The Music Box at Fonda Hollywood showcased various revues and theatre performances, before switching to a focus on film. Now, the Music Box at Fonda Hollywood is amongst the top live music venues in LA, with a star-studded schedule to prove it. Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, Stevie Wonder, Green Day, Flogging Molly, The Kills, and Radiohead are just a few of those featured on the Music Box at the Fonda schedule in the past.
