The Scranton Cultural Center's Young Performers will present SCHOOL OF ROCK - The Musical. Rock got no reason, rock got no rhyme...You better get me to school on time! School of Rock is a two-hour, two-act musical (plus intermission), based on the hit movie. The tuner follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a supply teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school's headmistress finding out? Event Seating is General Admission, First-Come, First-Served, Held in Shopland Hall, 4th Floor of the Scranton Cultural Center. The Seating chart for Shopland Hall reflects the general layout for this event, but specific seat locations are subject to change. NO REFUNDS / NO EXCHANGES

''School of Rock'', also called ''The School of Rock'', is a 2003 American musical comedy film directed by Richard Linklater, written by Mike White, and starring Jack Black. The main plot centers around hard rock singer and guitarist, Dewey Finn (portrayed by Black), who is unanimously kicked out of his band and subsequently disguises himself as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school and forms a band of fifth-grade students to win the upcoming Battle of the Bands so he can pay his rent for his apartment.

- Wikipedia

The School of Rock, the original school of rock founded in Philadelphia in 1998, has now grown to 80 locations nationwide, including three in the Washington DC area (Ashburn, VA, Silver Spring, MD and Vienna, VA). Paul Green, the inspiration for the Jack Black character in Paramount's hit movie "School of Rock", created the school to help our students realize their potential as artists, to put them on stage in front of as many people as possible and to help foster a new generation of incredible musicians. The school performs hundreds of shows annually across the nation, and locally in venues such as Rock and Roll Hotel, State Theatre, U St. Music Hall, 930 Club, Jammin' Java, Jaxx Nightclub and many more.
