By 2004, roughly a decade after her recording debut, Laura Pausini had sold over 25 million albums worldwide. Her singing didn't really take off until 1993, when she made her self-titled debut and scored a big hit with "La Solitudine." Laura (1995), Le Cose Che Vivi/Las Cosas Que Vives (1996), La Mia Risposta/Mi Respuesta (1998), and Tra Te e il Mare/Entre Tu y Mil Mares (2000) each found mass success in their respective markets. Her English-language crossover album, From the Inside (2002), essentially struck out with consumers and she didn't return until 2004's Resta in Ascolto/Escucha, which returned her to the top of the charts. Each subsequent recording has placed in the Latin and Italian top tens. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi

Laura Alice Rossella Pausini better known as Laura Pausini OMRI, (born May 16, 1974, Faenza, Province of Ravenna, Italy) is one of the most famous and successful Italian singer-songwriters worldwide. She signed to Warner Music Group in 1993. Dubbed the “Queen of Italian pop,” Pausini is famed for her soulful voice and romantic ballads. She is also known for multilingual music productions that span five languages, including her native Italian, Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. Pausini debuted at the 43rd Annual Sanremo Music Festival in 1993. Her first place victory in the competition's New Talent division helped launch her music career in Europe. Since 1996, she has concurrently released Spanish–language companion editions with her vernacular studio albums. Her 1998 album, “La mia risposta” / “Mi respuesta,” was her first to reach #1 on the Italian Albums chart. In 2001, she recapped eight years of success with a greatest hits album, issued in the two customary editions Italian and Spanish. Following an English-language crossover attempt in 2002, Pausini returned with the galvanizing studio album “Resta in ascolto”/ “Escucha” in 2004. The recording garnered a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album in 2006. That album, along with 2006’s “Io canto” / “Yo canto” and 2008’s “Primavera in anticipo” / “Primavera anticipada” reached #1 on the Italian charts. To date, Pausini has sold over 50 million albums world-wide.

Laura Pausini, omri (Italian pronunciation: [ˈlaura pauˈziːni]; born 16 May 1974) is an Italian pop singer-songwriter and record producer. She debuted in 1993, winning the newcomer artists' section of the 43rd Sanremo Music Festival with the song "La solitudine", which became an Italian standard and an international hit, reaching the top spot on the Italian Musica e Dischi singles chart, as well as on the Dutch Top 40 and on the Flemish Ultratop 50. Her eponymous debut album was released in Italy on 23 April 1993 and later became an international success, selling two million copies worldwide.
Its follow-up, Laura, was released in 1994 and confirmed her international success, selling three million copies worldwide. The first single from this album, "Strani amori", also became a domestic and international hit, reaching the top 5 on Italian, Dutch and Belgian main singles charts. During the same year, she released her first Spanish-language album, Laura Pausini, composed of ten adapted songs originally included in her previous works. The album was certified diamond by the Association of Phonographic and Videographic of Spain, making her the first non-Spanish artist to sell more than one million copies in Spain.
