Their hypnotic, spiraling rhythms effortlessly transport listeners to the vibrant streets and red earth of Mali.Founded in Bamako in 2013 by the late Bamba Dembelpercussionist and co-founder of the iconic Super Djata BandBamba Wassoulou Groove is rooted in the rich legacy of Malian music. Dembel, alongside Zani Diabat, the funkiest and most eccentric guitarist in post-independence Mali, helped define the sound of the Super Djata Band. The band, alongside the Ambassadors of Salif Keita and the Super Rail Band, became a force to be reckoned with in the late 70s and 80s, igniting dancefloors and captivating young audiences with their infectious grooves.However, following the tragic deaths of Diabat and other members, the Super Djata Band disbanded, marking the end of an era in Malis music history. With Bamba Wassoulou Groove, a new generation of talented musicians has risen to carry the torch. The band fuses the traditional with the modern, breathing new life into a genre that remains as potent and original as ever. By blending timeless Bambara classics with fresh compositions, the band ignites the stage with a powerful energy, captivating audiences worldwide.Their music, anchored by psychedelic bluesy electric guitars, intricate solos, and soulful vocals, is a force that propels Malis musical legacy into the future.
