Venue Information
Originally named the Fox Wilshire, this gorgeous art deco theater opened its doors on September 19, 1930. Fox West Coast Theaters built it to house their first-run feature films. For the first 50 years of its life, it served as one of the premiere movie palaces in Los Angeles and has hosted a number of special events such as the 1953 World Premiere of "How to Marry a Millionaire" featuring Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Bacall. Here is a short video of them, along with Humphrey Bogart, outside under the marquee: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWgEP1YLr6c In 1981, the Wilshire Theatre was renovated and converted into a stage venue and hosted shows by marquee names such as James Taylor, Billy Crystal, Ryan Adams, Sigur Ros, Sonic Youth, Chris Botti, Sting, Taylor Swift, Dave Chappelle, A Mighty Wind and more. Now named the Saban Theatre, it is open for theatrical rentals, concerts, television shoots, parties and more.
