The building that The Tap occupies was built in the early 1900′s and was an actual train depot until its movement from Waller, Texas to College Station in the early seventies. It housed several businesses until it was remodeled into The Tap in 1990.

The Tap opened December 29th, 1990 to a crowd watching the original Texas A&M Wrecking Crew dislocate both of Heisman winner Ty Detmer’s shoulders in the Holiday Bowl against BYU in Hawaii. Frivilous Facts: Initially The Tap served just beer and wine; hard liquor was added in 1993. The Tap has served over 80 tons of free peanuts since 1990. The Tap made it to Playboy magazine in 2002 featuring our very own Mary Beth “Girls of the Big 12″…she later went on to MTV’s Road Rules and is still rocking it in Austin.  The Tap had these “up and coming” bands back in ...
