Museum in Tiburon, California Angel Island Immigration Station was an immigration station in San Francisco Bay which operated from January 21, 1910, to November 5, 1940, where immigrants entering the United States were detained and interrogated. Angel Island is an island in San Francisco Bay. AIIM is housed in the former immigration hospital on Angel Island. Exhibits focus on the policies that shaped immigration to the United States from 1882 to the present while highlighting the challenges and triumphs of Pacific Coast immigrants.
