Level I - Karen Petty, Basic Orff
Curriculum is based on the work of the composer Carl Orff and his colleagues who developed "Orff Schulwerk," music and movement for the school. Participants will explore Orff process, melody and rhythm, improvisation, pentatonic scales and bordun accompaniments. Ability to read music notation is a prerequisite.
Level II - Cyndee Giebler, Basic Orff
Prerequisite is successful completion of an AOSA approved Level I course. Content includes a review of Level I, and modes and mixed meters will be explored through all Orff process and media.
Movement - Danai GagneRecorder - Leslie Timmons
Level I and Level II are 10 day full-time courses approved by the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. Workshop fee ($565) is tuition only and does not include the cost of graduate credit. Participants may opt to register for 6 units of Continuing Education graduate level credit on the first day (June 19 from 8 – 8:30 am.) Payment of $180 ($30 per credit) must be made in the form of a separate check/money order made out to Utah State University.Note: Workshop fee includes a non-refundable $50 deposit. No refunds after June 1, 2017.
