About

While Miss Saigon originally premiered on the West End, it has become Broadway's 10th longest-running musical and is celebrating its 20th year in production. A reimagining of Puccini's classic opera, Madame Butterfly, Miss Saigon has captured the hearts of audiences around the world with its tale of forbidden romance during the Vietnam War. While Miss Saigon may no longer be on Broadway and there are no tour dates in 2011, fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of a US tour in the near future. Miss Saigon follows jaded GI, Chris, and an orphan bargirl, Kim, as they fall in love shortly before the Fall of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War. As Communist forces head towards the city, Chris prepares to take Kim with him when he evacuates the country. However, as the last US forces are being evacuated by helicopter, Chris is unable to reach Kim and is placed, unconscious, in the transport. Three years later, Kim and her half-American son, Tham, live in squalor as they try to make their way to the US to find Chris, only getting as far as Bangkok, Thailand. Meanwhile, Chris is living in the United States with his new wife, Ellen, when he finds out from his friend John that Kim is still alive and has had Chris' child. Chris, John, and Ellen travel to Bangkok to find Kim, but all are unsure what will happen once the past lovers are reunited. While there are no 2011 tour dates for Miss Saigon, fans of the musical have gathered together to request both a Broadway revival, as well as for national tours in their area. While there is a film adaptation rumored to be in the works, audiences wishing for Miss Saigon's return to the stage can instigate a national tour by sampling "Demanding It!" on Eventsfy.
